Taking a few moments to focus on our health today can be an important step towards a healthier tomorrow.
As part of Project Sunkalp, a cancer screening camp was conducted at Pollpakkam PHC, Madurantakam, bringing preventive healthcare and early detection services closer to the local community.
A total of 53 beneficiaries participated in the screening, including 34 men and 19 women.
The camp provided:
• 17 iBreast Examinations
• 52 Oral Examinations
• 3 Pap Smear Tests
The screening identified 1 gynaecological finding requiring further medical evaluation and follow-up. This is a screening finding and does not by itself confirm a cancer diagnosis. Appropriate medical consultation and further assessment are important to determine the next steps.
The participation of community members highlights the importance of making cancer screening accessible to both men and women. While breast and cervical cancer screening supports women's health, oral cancer screening helps raise awareness about the importance of identifying suspicious changes early.
Cancer may not always show noticeable warning signs in its early stages. Regular screening can help identify suspicious changes and encourage timely medical consultation and follow-up.
For many communities, accessing specialised healthcare can be challenging due to distance, cost, time, or limited awareness. Project Sunkalp works to reduce these barriers by bringing cancer screening services closer to people through local healthcare facilities and community-based camps.
Every person who comes forward for screening is taking a proactive step towards understanding and protecting their health. Together, we can build greater awareness about prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, early detection, and timely medical attention.
Through Project Sunkalp, Kalpavriksham Trust continues to work with PHCs, local communities, healthcare professionals, and CSR partners to expand access to cancer screening across Madurantakam.
Kalpavriksham Trust is registered under 12AB, 80G, and CSR-1 (MCA) and is listed on NGO Darpan, with transparent camp-wise impact reporting for CSR partnerships.
